Local-first speed, optional sync: how Atlantic handles your data

Why Atlantic runs locally by default and when to turn on sync across iPhone and iPad.

Atlantic is designed local-first: your day-to-day tracking should feel instant, even when you are offline. Sync is optional—something you turn on when you want the same picture on every device.

What local-first means for you

  • Log transactions, browse budgets, and run reports without waiting on the network.
  • Core workflows keep working in airplane mode or poor connectivity.
  • You stay in control: the app is useful before you create an account.

When to enable sync

Turn on sync when you use both iPhone and iPad (or replace a device) and want:

  • The same accounts, categories, and transactions everywhere
  • Backup aligned with your signed-in account
  • Fewer manual exports when switching devices

Configure it under Settings → Sync in the app. For policy details, see our Sync & privacy page and Privacy Policy.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell your transaction history.
  • We do not require sync to use basic tracking.
  • We do not replace professional financial, tax, or legal advice.
